Son of Vishravas and Ilavida. Stepbrother of Ravana. Married with Riddhi. He founded his abode Alaka with the capital Alakapuri on the banks of Alaknanda. He and Shiva are neighbours.
He is the lord of treasures, where treasures mean everything, the entire abundance of nature. He is the treasurer of the Gods, appointed by Shiva. And he is the king of the Yakshas.
