Dashamukha

The one with the ten (dasha) faces (mukha) – a name of Ravana who had ten heads.

Ravana used to worship Shiva by offering 108 lotus flowers. One day a flower was missing. Ravana cut off his head and offered it instead of the missing lotus‘. Shiva was deeply impressed and gave him ten heads.

In the Adbhuta Ramayana he has a brother with thousand heads, Sahasramukha.
