Pratipa was King of Hastinapura.
He had three sons, Devapi, Balhika, Shantanu (the reborn King Mahabhishek).
Devapi had a skin desease, he became an ascetic. Balhika became heir to the throne of his maternal grandfather. Shantanu became king after Pratipa’s death.
Balhika had one son Somadatta.
Somadatte had two sons Bhurishravas, Shal.
Shantanu had three sons Bhishma, Chitrangada, Vichitravirya.
Vichitravirya had two sons Dhritrashtra, Pandu.
Dhritrashtra had hundred sons, Pandu five – the Kauravas und Pandavas.
Somadatta and Bhurishravas fought on the side of the Kauravas in the Mahabharata war.
