Shuka, along with Dhritarashtra, Pandu and Vidura, was Vyasa’s fourth son, the perfect son, a sage.
His mother was the apsara Gritachi in disguise of a parrot.
Shuka heard the Bhagavata Purana from his father and told it to King Parikshit, while he was waiting for this death.
As a parrot he will accompany Kalki, the tenth and last avatar of Vishnu.
