Janapadi

Saradvat did strictest asceticism, which made Indra, the king of the Gods, fear for his throne. He asked the apsara Janapadi to disrupt Saradvat’s asceticism.

A boy and a girl, Kripa and Kripi, were born. Saradvat left the children behind and went back to the forests.

King Shantanu found them and took them with him. Years later, Saradvat came back and took Kripa with him to teach him the art of war.

Kripa later became, together with Drona, the teacher of the Kauravas and the Pandavas.

Kripi married Drona, their son was Ashwatthaman.
