Chidambaram

The golden hall of Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu is the realm of Shiva as Nataraja, as the king of dance.

He dances the Ananda Tandava, the dance of bliss. In the sanctuary, behind Nataraja, there is an Akasha (ether/space) Linga, an invisible Linga.

Chidambaram is made up of Chit, consciousness, and Ambaram, space – it is thus the space of supreme consciousness.

The old name of Chidambaram is Tillai.
