Panchasarovara

Five (pancha) sacred lakes (sarovar).

Manasa Sarovara – Tibet
Created in Brahma’s mind (manas) and brought to earth, near mount Kailash, the abode of Shiva.

Pushkar Sarovara – Rajasthan
Brahma dropped three lotus blossoms on the earth, where they hit the place Pushkar and the lake of the same name arose.

Narayana Sarovara – Gujarat
Narayana is Vishnu. The lake is fed by the mystical river Sarasvati.

Bindu Sarovara – Gujarat
Created from the tears of Vishnu. Here sage Kapila taught his mother the Kapila Gita.

Pampa Sarovara – Karnataka
Here Parvati, called Pampa, meditated on Shiva. Furtheron ist was the place where Shabari had her ashram.
