Dasharatha accidentally shot and killed a boy, Shravan.
The parents were blind and helpless without the son. The father cursed Dasharatha: ‚Your son shall also be taken from you and you shall die of him in mourning.‘
The curse was fulfilled when Rama was exiled for fourteen years. Dasharatha died of a broken heart shortly afterwards.
