Vibhavasu and Supratika

Two brothers – Vibhavasu was prone to anger, Supratika to greed.

One day Vibhavasu criticized his brother for his greed, which ultimately leads to quarrels and alienation. He cursed him for being reborn as an elephant. Supratika responded immediately and cursed the brother for being reborn as a turtle.

So anger and greed came into the world in the form of two animals. In these animal forms, too, they continued to fight against each other. If the elephant appeared at the water to drink, the turtle churned it up. The elephant, in turn, trampled in and attacked the turtle with its tusks.

They were eaten by Garuda in the following story
