Hera Panchami

Hera means ‚to see‘ and Panchami is the fifth day.

The festival is celebrated in the Gundicha Temple on the fifth day after the beginning of the Ratha Yatra in Puri, where Krishna is worshiped as Jagannatha.

Jagannatha once wanted to take a day off and withdrew with Balarama and Subhadra to the Gundicha Temple, leaving Lakshmi behind.

When he wasn’t back after five days, she went there. Jagannatha locked the gate. In anger, Lakshmi smashed his car.

The event is recreated during Hera Panchami.
