Dashavatara

The ten (dasha) Avataras of Vishnu.

They are Fish (Matsya), Turtle (Kurma), Boar (Varaha), Manlion (Narasimha), Dwarf (Vamana), Rama with the ax (Parashurama), Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Kalki.

The Bhagavata Purana lists 22 Avataras, adding Kumaras (1st), Narada, Narnarayana, Kapila, Dattatreya, Yajna Purusha, Rishabha, Prithu (3rd to 9th), Dhanvantari (12th), Mohini (13th), Vyasa (17th), Balarama (19).

Dashavatara are connected with the evolution of mankind.
