The Vina is a gift of the Gods, with which sage Narada wanders through the worlds, praising Vishnu. It is also he who brought the Vina to earth.

He and Sarasvati are depicted with this plucked instrument. It is played by the Gandharvas Vishvavasu and Tumburu.
