The sustainer of the universe, the sustaining principle (Sthiti).
Vishnu is one of the cosmit Trimurti Brahma – Vishnu – Shiva. Creation – Preservation – Dissolution. Srishti – Sthiti – Laya.
His consort is Lakshmi, his mount is Garuda, his abode is Vaikuntha.
In addition to Lakshmi there are three more consorts – Nila, Shri, Bhu Devi.
He rests on the world-serpent Shesha as Narayana. He is depicted dark-blue, like the raincloud or the sapphire.
Vishnu incarnated tem times on earth.
