Vrika asked Shiva for a boon.
Laying his hand on a person, this person should die. Shiva granted him the wish and he immediately tried this with Shiva. Shiva fled to Vishnu.
Vishnu asked the demon to put his hand on his (the demon’s) head, he fell dead.
