Vyasa

Son of Satyavati and Parasara, as his son his name is Parasarya.

Father of Dhritarashtra, Pandu, Vidura, Shuka.

His complete name is Krishna Dwaipayana Vedavyasa. The dark (krishna) on an island (dvipa) born (dvaipayana), who divided (Vyasa) the Veda into four parts. The island layed in the Yamuna.

Because on the island grew Badara trees, he is also called Badarayana, as who he is considered the founder of Vedanta Philosophy and author of the Brahma Sutra.

He is a Chiranjivi.

He is the author of the Mahabharata and the Puranas.

He is married with Pinjala, daughter of sage Jabali.
